Found Art/Mixed Media
"One man's trash is another man's treasure" is a proverb I take to heart. The detritus of our worlds, both natural and fabricated, are my treasures, and they serve as a virtually infinite supply of materials to be rescued, reimagined, and given a new "life." When art can begin with anything from an acorn to some packing material to the inner workings of a no-longer-working ink jet printer, the possibilities and the opportunities are endless.
Bio
I grew up on Long Island, NY with a father who, to my young eyes, was a Renaissance Man. A "commercial artist" by trade, he was also a photographer, painter, poet, inventor, film maker, and an unabashed pack rat. Though always a creative kid, I was reluctant to follow in his professional footsteps... until I did. I remain indebted to him for helping launch my own career as a graphic designer as well as for handing down a natural propensity to be fascinated by... everything. I also seem to have inherited his inability to part with anything that could possibly be of use -- practical or aesthetic -- in the future. And since moving to Vermont -- a little piece of the country that seems to breed creativity completely out of proportion to its size -- I find myself facing that future feeling energized and inspired. Good thing; I have a lot of junk.
