Watercolor and Pastel
I’ve been absolutely terrified every moment of my life and I've never let it keep me from doing a single thing that I wanted to do.”
~ Georgia O'Keefe
I love watercolor for its transparency and the challenge that controlling water presents. Pastels intrigue me for the color mixing, mark making and illuminous effects that are possible. I lean toward landscapes, birds, and flowers, but also enjoy urban sketching and still life in both mediums. Memberships in EAL, VPS, VWS provide opportunities from member and outside artists, participate in shows and enjoy wonderful camaraderie.
Bio
My interest and appreciation in art was fostered by my mother and two aunts who were professional artists. Growing up in New York I was exposed to numerous cultural venues. I began watercolor lessons as a child and continued in high school, where I discovered pastels, which I love! It wasn't until retirement and Covid that I could refocus on painting. Painting is now my full time obsession and living in Vermont provides so much inspiration.
